PC-29 Deep Olive Speckle COMBINATIONS

PC-29 Deep Olive Speckle is an earthy, organic glaze designed to bring natural depth and subtle complexity to stoneware surfaces. Firing at cone 5–6, it produces a muted olive-green base enriched with speckled variation that enhances its raw, mineral-inspired character.

On application, the glaze can appear slightly varied even before firing, and this variation becomes more pronounced in the kiln. Thinner areas tend to show softer olive tones, while thicker applications deepen into richer, darker greens. The speckling effect adds visual texture that resembles natural stone or weathered ceramic surfaces.

One of its defining features is how it interacts with surface irregularities. On textured or carved pieces, the glaze breaks gently over edges, allowing lighter highlights to emerge while darker tones settle into recesses. This enhances form without overpowering it.

In pooled areas, Deep Olive Speckle develops richer, more concentrated green-brown tones. These variations are not uniform, giving each piece a unique fired result that feels organic and grounded.

This glaze is especially effective on functional ware such as bowls, mugs, and serving dishes, where earthy tones and tactile surfaces are desirable. It also performs well on sculptural ceramics that benefit from natural, understated coloration.

Because of its reactive and speckled nature, test firing is recommended when used on new clay bodies or in combination with other glazes.
