Description
PC-25 – Textured Turquoise – Mid Range Potters Choice Glaze in Gallon Size Container
PC-25 Textured Turquoise COMBINATIONS
Textured Turquoise is a dynamic glaze formulated to emphasize surface detail and tactile variation. This glaze is a favorite among professional potters and beginner hobbyists.
Firing at cone 5–6, produces a vibrant turquoise tone that is enhanced by texture, carving, and form. Unlike flat turquoise glazes, this formulation is designed to respond actively to the surface beneath it. In thinner areas, the color may appear lighter and more translucent, while thicker applications deepen into richer turquoise tones. This variation allows the glaze to visually reinforce sculptural details and carved patterns.
One of its defining qualities is its ability to break over edges, where it thins and creates lighter highlights that contrast with deeper pooled areas. This effect enhances dimensionality and gives each piece a more organic, hand-crafted appearance.
In recessed areas, Textured Turquoise tends to pool, intensifying color and adding depth. These variations create visual complexity without requiring additional layering techniques, making it a strong standalone glaze for artists who want expressive surfaces with minimal intervention.
The glaze performs well on stoneware bodies with texture, including carved, stamped, or wheel-thrown surfaces. It is particularly effective for decorative and functional ware where surface detail is part of the design language.
Because of its reactive nature, application thickness plays a significant role in the final result. Slight adjustments can produce noticeably different outcomes, so test tiles are recommended when dialing in desired effects.
