AMACO Potter’s Choice Glaze PC-34 Light Sepia | Cone 5-6

PC-34 Light Sepia is a soft, warm neutral glaze that delivers understated elegance across a wide range of ceramic forms.  When firing at cone 5–6, it produces gentle sepia tones that sit between beige, light brown, and warm taupe, depending on application thickness and clay body interaction.

In thinner applications, Light Sepia appears more translucent and airy, allowing the clay body beneath to subtly influence the final appearance. Heavier applications deepen the color slightly, producing richer sepia-brown tones while maintaining its soft, muted character.

One of its strengths is its controlled surface behavior. Unlike highly fluid reactive glazes, Light Sepia offers gentle variation rather than dramatic movement. On textured surfaces, it softly breaks over edges, creating delicate highlights that enhance form without high contrast.

In recessed areas, the glaze pools lightly, adding depth while preserving its overall calm and cohesive aesthetic. This makes it especially suitable for ceramicists seeking a neutral glaze that supports form and craftsmanship rather than dominating it.

Light Sepia is well-suited for functional ware such as mugs, bowls, and tableware, as well as sculptural pieces where subtle surface treatment is preferred. It pairs effectively with both decorated and minimalist designs.
