Add texture, and dimension, and bursts of color to your pieces with Snow Gems!
Cone 06 oxidation: Creates a white, textured surface with purple and red crystals.
Cone 6 oxidation: No change.
Cone 10 reduction: Purple crystals fade.
Snow Gems is
a dimensional glaze that creates a white, textured surface with colored
crystals. It is a non-moving glaze that can be applied using a brush or palette
knife to create various textural effects and accents in your design work.
Snow Gems
have a wide firing range of cones 06-10 (999°C-1305°C / 1830°F-2381°F).
General
Use
Shake well
and stir before and between each application to keep crystals suspended and to
achieve even crystal coverage. Using a brush, apply 3 even coats to cone
04 earthenware or stoneware bisque, greenware, or clay.
To tint,
brush one coat of Stroke & Coat, Foundations, or E-Z Stroke color of choice
over the Snow Gems or mix small amounts into the product. Allow
to dry between coats. Fire to shelf cone 06-10 (999°C-1305°C /
1830°F-2381°F) Snow Gems will perform the same at low, mid, and
higher temperature firings. Testing is recommended.
Not
recommended for dinnerware due to surface characteristics, decorative use
only.
