A sheer/ transparent glaze has antiquing like properties and highlights the detail in pieces that have texture
A sheer / transparent glaze allows colors placed under them to shine through.
I do not recommend mixing these sheer glazes together.
Sheer Glazes are Transparent, and they produce a solid sheer background when two or more good coats are evenly applied, it is lead free and non-toxic which means it is a very stable glaze that will not move in firing. So, even application with proper drying time is very important with this glaze.
You can easily apply Stroke & Coats or EZ strokes on under or on top of a foundation sheer glaze for beautiful design work while using accenting the antiquing properties of these exceptional glazes.
Fired Results
Cone 06 oxidation: This soft translucent Ruby Red glaze adds a tint of color to your work, allowing surface textures or design to show through.
Cone 6 oxidation: No Change.
General Use
Foundations sheer glazes were designed to mature at shelf cone 06/05. Apply 2-3 coats, allowing surface to dry in-between coats. When applying to a large surface, we recommend a broad, soft brush such as CB-604 #4 Soft Fan.
Helpful Hints
Foundations dry quickly for same day firing
Many Foundations can be fired to higher temperatures and still maintain their color. Check the individual color label for performance at cone 6
Steadfast Application – Foundations will not dissolve or pick up previous coats of glaze
Dries Quickly – speeds up your ability to handle or perform additional decorating
High Gloss Finish- does not need to be clear glazed (except Foundations Matte glazes)
Foundations Sheer Glazes are Certified AP non-toxic and dinnerware safe.
