Foundations Black Velvet Glaze can easily be your foundation glaze for all of your ceramic projects.
Foundation Glazes are Matte and they produce a solid matte background when two or more good coats are evenly applied, it is lead free and non-toxic which means it is a very stable glaze that will not move in firing. So, even application with proper drying time is very important with this glaze.
You can easily apply Stroke & Coats or EZ strokes on top of a foundation Matte glaze for beautiful design work with a matte finsih
Fired Results
Cone 06: Fires to a beautiful, soft subdued black matte finish.
Cone 6: Finish becomes glossy.
General Use
Foundations matte glazes were designed to mature at shelf cone 06/05. Apply 2-3 coats, allowing surface to dry in-between coats. When applying to a large surface, we recommend a broad, soft brush such as CB-604 #4 Soft Fan.
Helpful Hints
Foundations dry quickly for same day firing
Many Foundations can be fired to higher temperatures and still maintain their color. Check the individual color label for performance at cone 6
Steadfast Application – Foundations will not dissolve or pick up previous coats of glaze
Dries Quickly – speeds up your ability to handle or perform additional decorating
High Gloss Finish- does not need to be clear glazed (except Foundations Matte glazes)
Foundation glazes are certified AP non-toxic and food safe.
