Red Hawaiian Sunset Plate

Calm, serene, beautiful is how to describe a tropical Hawaiian sunset and you can recreate this incredible red sight on the Duncan® Palm Tree Plate. An already-raised palm tree helps guide your design.

1.      Wipe plate with damp sponge to remove bisque dust
2.      Pour puddles of Dark Straw, Neon Orange, Neon Red and Really Red on palette.
3.      Sponge Dark Straw across lower half of plate.
4.      While paint is damp, sponge Neon Orange above and below the Yellow blending colors where they meet.
5.      Continue with Neon Red above and blending into the Orange and finally Really Red at top of plate. Let dry.
6.      Continue twice more letting dry between coats and blending colors. Let dry.
7.      Use pencil to transfer pattern to plate or freehand silhouette background.
8.      Use Black to paint dimensional palm tree, partial palm fronds and background. Let dry.
9.      Paint back of plate with two solid coats of Black. Let dry.
10.   Stilt on kiln shelf and fire to cone 06.
11.   If desired, brush a coat of Pure Brilliance to plate, dry and re-fire.
